Our Hoja Santa & Sea Salt is made with fresh freeze-dried herbs collected by smallholder farmers in Oaxaca. Hoja santa is a traditional herb with a heart-shaped leaf, and it’s been grown continually since pre-Hispanic times in Mexico, on riverbanks and in backyards. The sea salt comes from a brackish lagoon in Colima, Mexico, dried using solar power. Use on proteins, fresh cheese, quesadillas, soups, tamales and mole.

SOURCING
We worked with the female-led team at Fruvethy, a Oaxaca-based organization that works with smallholder farmers to source hoja santa. Their unique freeze-drying method ensures that the heart-shaped leaves retain all their incredible flavor, and their support of small farming communities is what drew us to partner together.
Nina and her sister Estefania at Fruvethy also work with salt producers in Colima, an area famous for its flaky sea salt. They hand-blend the freeze-dried hoja santa with the sea salt to make this unparalleled, uniquely delicious Oaxacan blend.
We are honored to work together!
