Grown on a verdant mountainside in Costa Rica, this golden-orange turmeric plays a key role in rebuilding healthy forests on land that had been clear-cut for cattle ranching. Our partners have successfully reforested the land over decades, planting native trees and re-establishing a layer of healthy topsoil. Sweet and gingery, this turmeric is perfect for beverages, curries, sauces and rice.
Our turmeric is free of lead, testing below the detectable threshold of 0.1 parts per million (ppm). It has been tested in an internationally accredited food safety testing lab. Please contact us for more details on our testing procedures for turmeric and other spices.

SOURCING
In 2023, Ethan tagged along with his wife for a conference in Costa Rica. But when Ethan travels, he’s always got his nose to the ground sniffing out spices.
He ended up at VerdEnergia Pacifica, a regenerative agroforestry project and ecovillage in Puriscal, in the mountains above the Pacific coast.
His family spent a night on the farm, learning about the reforestation efforts being made by Joshua and the Blacksheep team on land that was clear-cut for cattle ranching. And he tasted this exceptional turmeric, which they grow as part of their work to regenerate the soil and rebuild the native tropical rainforest.
We are so proud to support their work by bringing this gorgeous turmeric to you.
