SOURCING
Our berbere is produced by a small cooperative of farmers in the Kafa Biosphere Reserve, located in the southwest region of Ethiopia, where many of the herbs for the Berbere are harvested. This area is rich with indigenous plant species that give the blend its unique, complex flavor.
The farming communities we work with use organic agroforestry practices, meaning all the cultivated crops are integrated into the forest, enabling a sustainable form of agriculture to produce the highest quality products. The process to make the Berbere blend is an art form, from grinding to fermentating the chilis to drying and grinding once again.
We are so grateful to our partner farmers and production team for creating this exceptional Berbere and giving us all a newfound appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into every batch. This is the freshest Berbere on the market!
