SOURCING

Sourcing image

We source our Chai blend from a cooperative of smallholder farmers on the Zanzibar islands off of the eastern coast of Tanzania. Many of these same families have been growing pepper and other spices (including our Cinnamon Verum, Pemba Cloves and Stone Nutmeg) for generations.

All of the spices from our partner cooperative in Zanzibar are grown on an EU-certified organic farm.

Meet the Farmer: Bwana Mohammed and Farooq are pictured walking on a vanilla vine-lined farm trail that is part of the cooperative in Zanzibar.

Great in endless ways

I got the Chai spice as part of a set for my birthday. Love the warming aroma it has. I have a website called The Autistic Gourmet, and I used it in a recipe I just posted (my Chai Spiced Apple Cake). You can find it on the website under the Recipes and Images page. I'll include a photo of the cake just in case.

Chai

The chai is amazing and goes into my coffee every morning along with the wild mesquite. They both have such unique flavor profiles. I look forward to baking with the chai soon!
